  ~CAMRA Oxford City Pub of the Year Presentation~
 Oxford City CAMRA have announced that the presentation of their Pub of the Year Award for 2011 will be taking place in Far from the Madding Crowd on
Thursday 9th February 2012 starting from 7pm.
 This is the second time that we have won this award in the last three years  and we are delighted that all the hard work which we put into providing a wide range of interesting and well kept real ales has been recognised by the local CAMRA membership.  

~ Reservations~
 In response to a growing number of requests we now offer the facility for customers to reserve tables either in the raised sofa area or in the main bar. So for anything from an informal business meeting to having a party please e-mail  us to find out if we can meet your requirements.                                           

~Quiz and Curry Night~
 Our popular Sunday night Quiz & Curry will be taking a short Christmas break after the 18th December and will restart on 8th  January. The quiz is free, the optional curry is just £4 (we always provide a vegetarian curry option) and the winning team gets a round of drinks on the house. Teams are from two to five people but make sure you turn up early as we are expecting the number of teams participating to soon exceed the space we have in the pub.

~ Talent Nights ~
 Our Monday evening Talent Night has been growing more and more popular and entertaining.  There seems to be no end to the number of talented extroverts in Oxford who are keen to entertain our customers.  These sessions  start from 7pm but we are now getting so many acts who wish to perform that we have to operate a "First come - First on"  policy so just sign up at the bar and you will be given a slot for you to kick start your career in show business.  We also have a growing number of customers who seem to enjoy the show so if you don't want to sing come along and applaud.

~ Pizza Nights ~
 Make a date with us every Thursday and enjoy a cooked to order, 12 inch pizza from just £5.95. If you're hungry enough why not challenge yourself to a Madding Special Pizza, the first cousin to our much-loved Madding Special Burgers. Whether you're catching up with friends, starting the weekend early or simply skipping the washing up, we'll be glad to serve you.

~ Free WIFI ~
 Far From the Madding Crowd provides free WIFI  for all customers, just ask at the bar for the password.

~ Recession Beating Hospitality ~
 We're determined that the recession won't beat us. That's why we've introduced Dave's Special. Our indomitable David scours breweries around the country looking for special deals on quality ales. He then passes these on to our customers for just £2.80 per pint. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy both the beer and the change.

~ Real Ale and Cider Festivals ~
 We hold four regular Real Ale Festivals, Spring, Summer ,Autumn and Winter  where we try to offer anything up to 30 different real ales which are best suited to the season. We usually have two or three interesting draught ciders available at each ale festival.  However, as these ciders have proved so popular we have now started holding regular cider festivals as well.  You can find out the dates for these festivals by clicking here.
 
~ Cask Marque Accreditation ~

We are proud to have been awarded Cask Marque accreditation. Cask Marque is an independent body dedicated to excellence in the service of cask ale. You can find out more about the organisation here. To achieve accreditation, a pub must pass two unannounced inspections which asses the temperature, appearance, aroma and taste of their cask ales. Congratulations to David and the team for all their hard work that ensures our beers are offered in such excellent condition.
