Each Sunday we host a Talent Night offering the extroverts amongst us the chance to entertain the public. All sorts of talents count so come along and see if you can wow the audience. 

~ Pizza Nights ~

Make a date with us every Thursday and enjoy a cooked to order, 12 inch pizza from just £5.95. If you're hungry enough why not challenge yourself to a Madding Special Pizza, the first cousin to our much-loved Madding Special Burgers. Whether you're catching up with friends, starting the weekend early or simply skipping the washing up, we'll be glad to serve you.

~ Oxford Pub of the Year ~

We're proud to announce that CAMRA members have voted us Oxford pub of the year! It's an honour to receive this award  and wonderful to know that our belief in the traditional British pub is well-founded. Particular congratulations to David and Lauren, our pub management couple whose enthusiasm and dedication are invaluable.

~ Quiz Nights ~

Our quizz and curry night will be back in October, after the summer break. 

~ Recession Beating Hospitality ~

We're determined that the recession won't beat us. That's why we've introduced Dave's Special. Our indomitable David scours breweries around the country looking for special deals on quality ales. He then passes these on to our customers for just £2.10 per pint. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy both the beer and the change.

Far From the Madding Crowd provides complimentary WIFI  for all customers, just ask at the bar for the password.

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded Cask Marque accreditation. Cask Marque is an independent body dedicated to excellence in the service of cask ale. You can find out more about the organisation here. To achieve accreditation, a pub must pass two unannounced inspections which asses the temperature, appearance, aroma and taste of their cask ales. Congratulations to David and the team for all their hard work that ensures our beers are offered in such excellent condition.
